VoiceXML and Dialog Systems Resources: VoiceXML Examples

This page collects together a number of VoiceXML examples from various sources. Where available, sources are cited; if you think something has been misattributed or you think a source should be cited when one isn't, please email me.

There's also an excellent collection of sample VoiceXML documents provided by the VoiceXML Forum, although when last checked these were Voice XML 1.0 rather than VoiceXML 2.0. The examples provided below are all VoiceXML 2.0.

• Simple 'Hello World!' script: used everywhere.
• TTS and audio output combined; from W3C's Getting started with VoiceXML 2.0.
• A Simple Menu; from W3C's Getting started with VoiceXML 2.0.
• Collect multiple data items using a form; from W3C's Getting started with VoiceXML 2.0.
• Choose a drink: Ask a question, process using an external grammar, call an external script using submit. From the VoiceXML 2.0 specification.
• Hello Goodbye: Demonstrates transition between forms. From the VoiceXML 2.0 specification.
• Multi-document applications: a root document and a leaf document, where the leaf document should be loaded first. From the VoiceXML 2.0 specification.
• Subdialogs: a custoner service application which makes use of a subdialog in another document. From the VoiceXML 2.0 specification.
